Why SERVPRO®
PPE stands for Personal Protective Equipment'
Our technicians use Personal Protective Equipment or PPE on jobs such as:
- Mold remediation | Biohazard situations | Preventative cleaning |
It is an OSHA regulation for our technicians to wear PPE in certain situations. Don't be scared if you see them in the suits, it's for their safety!
The primary function of PPE is to "minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses." ¹
Some hazards our teams may come in contact with include:
- Chemicals | Biohazardous materials | Mold & mold spores | Mechanical, electrical & physical hazards | Other fumes
There are many types of PPE, but when it comes to SERVPRO®, our teams can mostly be seen wearing:
Eye protection | Foot & leg protection (booties) | Hand & arm protection | Other face protection |
- Eye protection / face protection
You may see our techs wearing goggles or a full face respirator. This is protecting them from inhaling any airborne mold, dust, chemicals, and other fumes.
- Hand & arm protection / gloves
Gloves protect their skin from any contact with mold, irritating cleaning solutions, chemicals, biological contaminants, and other hazards.
- Foot & leg protection / protective clothing
Our techs often wear full body suits that include the protective booties at the bottom that cover their shoes, so they don't track any contaminants throughout the property or bring any back to the office or back home with them!
