Summer Storms Causes Water Damage in a Tucker Office
Recently we have experienced heavy rain and strong winds during the summer storms in DeKalb County, Georgia, and a commercial building was affected. Water damage occurred during the storm in a doctor’s office in Tucker. During the night water ran though loosened flashing around a vent in the roof. The nest morning the staff entered the office to find soggy ceiling tiles and the front floor of the office saturated.
They contacted SERVPRO® of Stone Mountain/Clarkston and our technicians arrived on site to extract the water around the front desk area. The ceiling tiles were removed, and the roof was tarped to stop any further water damage from occurring. Moisture readings indicated high levels of moisture in the ceiling area and the wall behind the desk.
Our technicians drilled some weep holes into the walls and forced in warm air. We removed as much moisture as possible before setting up the air movers as it speeds up the drying time. The subflooring was unaffected as the seal on the tile was completely intact.
To leave the office sanitary and inhibit microbial growth, our technicians cleaned all surfaces affected by the water. Only mild odor control was needed to neutralize the residual water odor. Our SERVPRO® franchise offers reconstruction services, and we were able to suggest to the owner the best course of action for fixing the flashing and replacing the damaged ceiling tiles. Because of our quick response, we were able to get this office back to functioning properly.
Commercial water damage can lead to costly secondary damages if not treated quickly, loss of revenue and interrupted services. Call SERVPRO® of Stone Mountain/Clarkston at 770-496-1976 if your business experiences water, fire or mold issues.
